[rwclub010] Biconnection – Psychotic Pop Light
Monday, August 30th, 2010‘Psychotic Pop Light’ is the San Sebastian’s duo Biconnection work presented in this tenth reference of Rawmatroid Club. Three different stories told under the same original concept, which include a version of Kino International and a cover design by Jon Garcia Rodriguez
‘My Pop Machine’ seduces us with its beauty from beginning to end, in an electronic mix of breaks and a personal melody hard to forget.
In ‘The Light You Give Me’ we heard a continuous percussive rhythms that mixes melodies and arpeggiated atmospheres, perhaps the craziest track of the whole EP.
‘Psychotic Happiness’ is the third theme: power and a great display of energy, an entire show of positivism that makes music marked by the personality of the duo.
As a bonus, in this tenth release of Rawmatroid Club, includes a version of ‘My Pop Machine’ by Kino International, in which preserving the essence of the original track adds the characteristic sensitivity and emotional subtlety of the also Basque artist.

[RRR189] TASRU – Obnoxious EP
Saturday, August 28th, 2010Tropical Australian Stinger Research Unit – Obnoxious EP
This is described by Thom Grathwol (TASRU) as, “more of a complimentary mini-album, outtakes, b-sides, and white-boy rap versions of tracks from El Capitan Del Sol.”
To be fair, the description is very understated. The production, quality, depth, class and style, that you have come to love from previous TASRU releases is all here, and it does stand up very well in his illustrious catalogue.
As Thom suggested earlier, this album does feature many friends on the tracks, “FL Grateful Dead Poster”, features DJ Martanyo, aka Martin Burgdoff, a college friend from Carthage College.
“Last night a discman saved my life”, is the soundtrack to a short film, which was a Campusmoviefest winner from De Paul University. It features Dawg Tooth aka D Pwnz on guest vocals, who also features on the excellent “Bourgeouis Pigg”.
In summary, this may be a collection of outtakes to Thom, but to many it will be a fascinating look into the other projects that Thom has worked on.

[RB087] Guanxi – Graveyard Shift
Friday, August 27th, 2010Guanxi – Graveyard Shift
The Guanxi pseudonym is orchestraed towards ‘a sui generi sound’ through research, investigation and with a hunger to explore a constructed visual and non-subjective disposition.
“Graveyard Shift” contains 5 pieces of complex and playful sounds from guitar, piano, bells, strings, flute, vocals, field recordings and electronics. Some of the pieces have a noisy and harsh character of a musical sketches, others operate with droning elements and a more calm ambience. And some combine both things. If you want to find a category for this, forget it.
For me the most precise analogy would be the sound world of a modern metropolis. You can hear layer over layer of multiple elements which are structured and arranged into a current impression. But it is constantly changing and moving. With every listen you get a different layer of “Graveyard Shift”. One time it seems to be a loud and unorganised cluster of tones, the next time you hear a reduced and humming melody, hidden under other elements before. Be curious and adventurous, you will be surprised.
Tracks:
01. Violin
02. Sea Cucumber
03. Coral Lanterns
04. Sword Lily
05. Lavender Hugs
