[RB090] Christopher McFall – The Suicide Strays

Christopher McFall – A Long Time Running for The Suicide Strays

Christopher McFall – A Long Time Running for The Suicide Strays

Christopher McFall is a well-known name in the experimental music scene, not only because of his CD-releases for Entr’acte, Mystery Sea, Sourdine, 1000füssler, Gears Of Sand, Moving Furniture Records and Unfathomless, but he’s also composed a multitude of netaudio-releases on Test Tube, Earlabs, Clinical Archives, Alg-a, CONV and Impulsive Habitat. What an impressive list of work.

His new release on Resting Bell is a lovely EP called “A Long Time Running for The Suicide Strays”. It consists of 4 tracks with a complete duration of 25 minutes. The EP starts with very rhythmic fragments, bringing to mind notions of old machines covered with dust and then it evolves into a more droning environment. The sound is really dark and harsh. The rhythmic elements seem to be hammering from a distant time and the melodies are haunting through old and frazzled drapery. If I had to describe a room for this music it would be an old abandoned factory-building or vaudeville-theatre. Christopher has assembled all of these elements together very carefully and in a sublime manner. For me it is hard to say whether the source sound materials are derived from field recordings, piano fragments or some saxophone-sounds. As a whole, the EP has a very dense and atmospheric composition.

Enjoy the days of fall with this wonderful release.

[DRLTD001/DR002] MFS – Devils Chair

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

MFS - Devils Chair

Diametral Labelhead Matthias Springer aka „MFS“ gives his Debut on the own imprint including the first physical extraction on „Diametral Limited“. „Devils Chair” is a really dark techno monster claiming every part of your body. Gloomy and strange apocalyptical soundscapes carried by an enormous wet kickbass and distorted reverbs forcing an endless psycho tone directly into your brain.

No matter what could match better into this than a remix by the “Stigmata” project of André Walter and Chris Hope. They are really well known for there abstruse and cryptic sounds forming an invasive and merciless interpretation of the original by setting distorted voices, analog screams, dry cutting kickdrums and overturning basslines into one terrifying track.

The trilogy continues with the Munich based newcomers “Bitterstrom”, more minimal, but for sure really aggressive with dry kicks and evolving percussive elements moving directly through your synapses without getting stopped, this track is a challenge for your ears and a gift for lovers of the good old thrilling looped techno sounds.

Last but not least comes the digital bonus „Baphomet“, an oldschool tech-dub-acid track moving forward for about 12 minutes generating en enormous tension on the listener, without making any compromises.

[NS020] dmyra – The Key

dmyra - The Key

dmyra is Robert Demes II of Costa Rica. He has been known in the net label scene for some time with his unique blend of genre defying alternative music. He’s released on such netlabels as 4-4-2 Music, Clinical Archives, Bump Foot, and INQB8R. We’re very happy to welcome dmyra to No-Source with his chilled out new release, The Key – Five new songs of downtempo non denominational indie blues bliss. Some of his best work to date.

“The dmyra has come unusually close to actual genres on this release. The lyrics and the songwriting are central here as in folk and gospel musics, as dmyra sings praises to the benevolent force that moves all of creation. From the impersonal to the transpersonal and beyond. Where in the past he may have been more ambiguous, and usually ephemeral, with this release comes a time to leave absolutely no doubt as to what are the things he’d like to say. As always it’s a process of personal development and growth, and a way to enjoy these things “a la vez”. If some others get to appreciate this, then the feeling is multiplied, happiness is disencadenada. Songs about and for the one song, the Uni-verse” ~ dmyra

Need A Name - Now I Found Myself PT.1

Artist: Need a Name
Artwork: Luca Mascioli
Title: Now I Found Myself ( part.1 )
Genre: ambient, breaks, glitch
Release on: 26/11/2010
Mastering: NeZoomie

This is the first step of an LP that, believe me, will change your own life! It is enough to know that just yesterday I’ve met Erik Statie’s ghost, he was still playing all the 35 beats of the longest song of all time. He suggested me to listen the music by a certain Need a Name, in his opinion the heir-at-law of his ambient music experimentations…

I’m honest, I didn’t understand fully what he was talking about, I only know that I’ve listened this album and now I can’t stop clicking the repeat button.

18 tracks with a tinge of Glitch, where errors are rules. Absolutely high level ambient music.

Tracklist PART 1:
1. Need an Intro
2. Analog Digiform
3. Pensieri
4. Changes
5. Happenings
6. Floating on simple harps
7. Everything returns
8. Accordi ripetitivi
9. Found a place
