Combining new knowledge with old ideas has always been the driving force behind Techno as new EP from Alexander Johansson suggests here. With 3 blinding tracks presenting what Alex has been doing in the shadows past years, we hear roaring sound of Sweden packed in ‘Petroil’ with nice percs and well driving groove. On a funkier floor note ‘Creeps’ is a big beat smasher which rolls out all the way. Third track ‘The Disease’ comes for the heavier heads with abrasive sound, and weird noises appearing randomly throughout. Final track is a remix by Jeff F of Subforce and it’s an interpretation of ‘Petroil’, rough, metallic, and ever bursting work full of thundering breaks. To celebrate fifty releases on No-Source Netlabel, we’ve compiled a new compilation consisting on No-Source artists, exclusive tracks, and upcoming bands from the net scene. “Another Day, Another Way” really shows off the sound that is No-Source, with quieter, acoustic driven music, and a good dose of electronics. The compilation kicks off with Multi-Panel’s “Christmas with Mr. Rice.” This is no holiday song though with washed out acoustics and electronics stuck in a reverb blender. “Prior To (alt. ver.)” is a previously unreleased version of “Prior To” that was recorded between the original 2004 version and the newer 2010 version of the track. Cocolixe provides a great new track with the downtempo electro-pop that is “Swing Low”. Tardiss contributes “The Light Between,” a track recorded around the time of last year’s Blue and Death City Able releases. pEACEFANg shows off some synth work with a fantastic ambient piece that left off of his debut EP. Limited Taste creates a new piece of music by mashing up bits from four different Full-Source tracks (Daylights, Prior To (Now), Until Morning, and Island of the Sun, all from The Lantern, The Ghost, and the Sea). Naked House provides an excellent piano instrumental taken from his album Cough Cough / Naked House. MeDo’s Little Trap makes some amazing experimental pop. Their track Lake can be found on their album Medicine Sound available on La bèl netlabel. “Journey” from Experia netlabel founder Age, is a short yet lovely guitar driven instrumental. Artie Appleseed is another project from the man better known as pEACEFANg. “Chipembere” from the album The Peregrine, shows Artie’s skill with acoustic guitar. Ross Baker, who formally released music as Second Thought contributes an acoustic track from his album Revolution 2. Book of Burrow’s “Worm” is a nice little b-side left off his debut release. James Murfet contributes a ambient IDM masterpiece, combining pulsating drums and field recordings. dmyra brings to the compilation a great little ambient piece called “Fin” to help close it out. San-Ei’s “Footnotes” finishes the compilation off with a little extra indie folk love. Like the end of another page to a great book, join No-Source for the next fifty releases!

Mold and Moisture, the fourth release by Tardiss on No-Source Netlabel is a trip back in time. These nine tracks make up a collection of early works recorded between 2002 and 2004. What we see here is the beginnings of a sound that Tardiss has gone on to shape into their definitive style. It is a decidedly more electronic and experimental album than the previous Tardiss records. There are still those nostalgia tendencies that peak from time to time. The album kicks off with “The Sandbox”. Samples of waves wash into IDM beats and sparse melodies. “Mid Lake Left”, recalls the track title Left Side Drive by Boards of Canada. Mid Lake Left was recorded a year or two before the Boards of Canada track and delivers more of an early Squarepusher vibe. “Harmonic Mist Figure” is a beautiful two minutes of haunting, beat-less ambient music. “Smoothie’s Loop”, though a bit more spastic, uses some modern Tardiss compositional techniques. “Pneumonia, I Own Ya” has a more of a lounge vibe, recalling Irresistible Force (one of Mix Master Morris’ aliases). The album closes with “Come Get It”, a twelve minute electronic, lounge rock freakout. This description makes sense when you get to the epic synth solo at six minutes in. Over the years, these early works have held up. The lo-fi attitude just makes them feel even more like a musty photograph collecting mold and moisture.

“Lonely voyage to nowhere” was our 3th release in Rawmatroid Class sublabel, an album produced by Kebiin that brought us to far atmospheres and places. An experimental trip in search of sounds and textures that say goodbye with “Bleeding Tears“, leaving the sensation of “to be continued?” in the air.

“Lonely return from nowhere” is the return from that sensorial trip through sounds, a reinterpretation by Kebiin of his own work where the producer adds new ideas and experiences going back retracing his own steps in the returning way. The sparkles of light, the darkness, the strange and the beautiful are mixed in Kebiin language in this 4th reference of Rawmatroid Class.

Strong technoid influences characterize the artists of the newest symbiostic release. The three friendly DJs and producer from Poland are Timo Glock, Larix and Damian Malec.

Timo Glock (Member of the Katowice Dirty Stuff Records, Dark X Recordings, Oscar Burnside Recordings, That’s Hot Records and Berlin Enter Music), gravitated by deep dark ambient electronic sound, provides with Vism, a depth flavored cosmic and tags so a point of departure for the feeling of this release.

He gets remixed by Larix (Naked Lunch, Impact Mechanics, Innervate, Elektrax Recordings, Hamburg Aufnahmen, Faction UK), label owner of Stereophonic, which has got a huge success during the last years and and got played by artists as Richie Hawtin, Dave The Drummer, A. Paul, Laurent Garnier, Alex Bau and many others. Hats off: Larix was valued by Richie Hawtins Plastikman ‘Ask Yourself’ Remix Competition as one of the five runners up and got released with his remix on M-nus.

The second remix comes from Damian Malec founder of “Minimal Radio POLAND”, where he strongly supports the polish underground scene with his partner Mariusz Makowski. He is also co-organizer of “Minimal Radio NIGHT” at the club INQbator in Katowice. For us he did one of his first remixes. Well done!

You might know the french sound artist Julien Demoulin from his “Fanø”-release on Audio Gourmet, his recent collaboration “The Bay” with IA on Basses Fréquences, or from his work as Silencio (the new album, “When I’m Gone” was recently released on three:four records). His first release on Resting Bell is the wonderful “Tough Love EP“. 5 tracks with a complete duration of 16 minutes.

Glittering and oscillating sounds drifting around. Guitar melodies are glaring through like rays of sunlight. The complete EP has got a very organic, evolving soundscape. Ivan Popov known as Mauro Norti, is a young dj and producer from Belarus. Inspired in the cinematic landscapes from Belorussia, he has involved with music since early days, getting main attention to electronic music styles the likes of Techno, Deep Techno, Tech House, Deep House, Minimal and Electronica. His brand new EP ‘Maktub’ is a solid prove of his perception about how to go into surreal dimensions by huge ambiances.

‘Maktub’ as his EP’s named, means a word in Arabic about “was written,” that wants to convey us is “the destiny” who marks the certain connections in our life, our soul and divine plan. ‘Maktub’, an emotional track from the beginning to the end. Here Mauro features the most subtle minimal textures to suggestive new-techno spirit surrounded by cinematic atmospheres, rounded by evolving atmospheres that takes us to hypnotic and astral worlds. Deep bass-lines, sweet harmonies and delicate beats make this opening key a magic window to another world.

‘Waiting For You’ is an outstanding melody-song that could be named as masterpiece due its composition and the music spirit it creates, bringing a notable distinction of the common “electronic music” as such, as a frame to an enchanted place surrounded by suggestive harmonies. Emotional but dynamic, Mauro suits a solid – memorable track to the night.

‘Circus Under Heaven’, as hypnotic and percussive it is, here Mauro show his best groovy side, delivering the necessary rhythm-touch to push up this unforgettable EP. Inviting beats with kind of sensuality with èlegant female vocals, reveals majestic organ by relaxing notes.

Gardens From Light have been part of the Resting Bell family since their first release in 2007, “Birds Of Joy And Sorrow”. It’s been four and a half years since that colossal debut, and following a protracted genesis, the new one-man version of Gardens From Light brings us “The Axis Of The Skies”.

“The Axis Of The Skies” is a huge 77-minute piece, loosely inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft story Polaris. It is designed to evoke a feeling of drifting in and out of a dream world, whilst simultaneously floating through space towards a dying star. It is divided into 5 pieces but is best enjoyed as a single long-form piece. If you take a listen, you’ll drift into a massive world of sound. Sparkling melodies; dark, droning environments and GFL’s trademark use of field recordings are all there, changing around and guiding you through this journey. The climax of the piece is the fourth section, “Gravity Assist”, with its slowly-evolving, harshly distorted parts changing to a very subtle and quiet passage leading into the final part of the work.

As ever, I can recommend to listen to this piece with headphones and with much time in the pocket. Welcome back, Gardens From Light – and thanks a lot for this exceptional work.
